SacredDaily is a personal spiritual companion app that helps users engage with sacred religious texts and maintain daily reading streaks. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience.

1. Information We Collect

Automatically Collected Information

Usage data: Which verses you read, your search queries, reading history
Streak data: Your current streak count, longest streak, completed dates
Preferences: Your selected theme, notification preferences, language preference
Analytics events: Screen views, onboarding progress, feature usage, and subscription funnel interactions (collected via PostHog)

User-Provided Information

Profile name: An optional display name you choose during onboarding
Profile photo: An optional photo selected from your photo library
Personalization settings: Theme, font size, notification time preferences

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

Display your personal reading history and streak statistics
Send you scheduled notifications at your chosen time
Personalize your experience (theme, language, font size)
Show your daily verse on the home screen widget
Recognize milestones in your spiritual journey
Understand how users interact with the app to improve the experience (via anonymous analytics)

3. Data Storage & Security

Local Storage: Your personal data (preferences, streaks, saved verses, journal entries) is stored locally on your device using iOS's secure local storage (UserDefaults and App Groups).

Widget Data Sharing: If you use the SacredDaily widget, it accesses daily verse data through iOS's secure App Group container — a standard iOS mechanism that keeps data on-device.

Analytics Data: Anonymous usage analytics are sent to PostHog (a privacy-focused analytics platform) to help us understand feature usage and improve the app. This data is not linked to your personal identity and does not include any personal content such as journal entries, prayer text, or your name.

4. Subscriptions & Purchases

SacredDaily offers optional in-app subscriptions managed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not process or store any payment information. All billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle purchase data.

5. Third-Party Services

PostHog Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics. PostHog receives:

Anonymous device identifiers (not linked to your Apple ID or personal identity)
App interaction events (e.g., "verse read", "streak milestone reached", screen views)
Device type and OS version

PostHog does not receive your name, email, journal entries, prayer text, or any data that could personally identify you. PostHog does not use IDFA and does not track you across other apps or websites. For details, see PostHog's Privacy Policy.

Apple Services

Apple Push Notifications: Scheduled locally on-device — no data sent to third-party servers
Apple StoreKit: For subscription purchases — handled entirely by Apple

6. Children's Privacy

SacredDaily is designed for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. Analytics data is anonymous and cannot identify any individual user. Since personal data is stored locally on-device and never transmitted, there is no server-side collection of personal user data.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data: All personal data is on your device and visible in the app
Delete your data: Delete the app or clear its data through iOS Settings
Control notifications: Disable through the app or iOS Settings at any time
Manage subscriptions: Through your Apple ID settings

8. Data Retention

Your personal data is stored on your device for as long as you use the app. Uninstalling SacredDaily automatically deletes all your local data — there is nothing to remove from any server. Anonymous analytics data retained by PostHog is subject to PostHog's data retention policies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
